With all that is going on, it can be very stressful, especially if you spend a lot of time focusing on the news and social media. I find that I am most productive when I set aside time for self-care and healthy ways to release stress. Try to find things that make you happy, focus on the good, and surround yourself with positive people. There is still an endless amount of things you can do to uplift yourself and keep your mood right. Today I’m sharing my personal top 5 ways to keep a healthy mindset and still enjoy being at home during the quarantine.

How to create an at-home spa date

Although you’re at home there are so many products on the market for spa care that will give you a professional experience. You can shop for items like bubble bath, body scrubs, bath bombs and scrubs, and much much more. Add this with a good calming playlist on Pandora and you will have yourself an entire spa day. You can also add a good face mask and Epson salt to soak. 

Essential oils are great as well for defusing or you can simply add them to your bathwater. This is a perfect way to release stress and take a break from everything that is going on around you. Let me know in the comments below if this is something you do occasionally. 

How to treat yourself to something special

There is nothing wrong with treating yourself every now and then. A great way to do this is through retail therapy. You don’t have to shop until you drop but make an effort to put a little money aside for personal care and to grab something special for yourself. If you’re like me, a nice piece of jewelry is always an awesome treat. If you feel this way too, maybe sell your old jewelry that you do not use anymore so that you can get a new piece! Lately, I’ve purchased a few business books that are currently collecting dust. It’s hard to find time to read them but when I do, it is worth it. 

The benefits of taking a cooking class  

Have you taken a virtual cooking class? I have and it is so much fun! My daughter and I have learned how to make homemade pop tarts, alfredo sauce, and shrimp fried rice. This is a perfect way to bond with your family members and learn something new. I’ve found several free classes on Facebook and Youtube. Find your favorite chef and keep a lookout for online classes. 

Another option would be searching Pinterest for new recipes and trying them with your family. You will absolutely love this, trust me. 

How to create the perfect date-night with your loved one

Lastly, don’t forget date night even if you’re in quarantine. There are so many ways to create a romantic experience right in the comfort of your own home. Order takeout or cook a home cooked meal. Rent a movie on FandangoNow or Google Play.  There are several video on demand streaming apps that are easy to use and very beneficial while we continue to adapt to the social distancing lifestyle.

You can also host a virtual couples date night with other couples. Play trivial games or host a Q&A. This could be tons of fun and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box. 

We’ve actually purchased a couple of retro games like Lite Brite. These are not only great for date night but perfect for the entire family as well. Pull out your old Monopoly or UNO games and have some fun!
